Look, I'll be real with you - I wasn't always the fitness person. Back in 2012, I was working some dead-end office job, couldn't climb a flight of stairs without getting winded, and my back was constantly killing me. I thought that's just how life was gonna be, you know?
Then my doctor gave me the wake-up call. Either change something or deal with serious health issues down the road. So I walked into a gym for the first time in years, scared out of my mind, feeling like everyone was judging me.
But something clicked. Not immediately - took me months to figure things out. I learned that strength training wasn't about getting huge or showing off. It was about building a foundation for life. About being able to play with your kids, move furniture without throwing your back out, or just feeling confident in your own skin.
That journey changed everything for me, and in 2018, I opened Jade Bastion Chronicle Fitness because I wanted to create the gym I wish I'd found back then - no intimidation, no BS, just honest work and real results.
Every milestone tells part of our story
Started my own fitness journey after hitting rock bottom health-wise. Learned what it actually means to build strength from scratch.
Got my personal training certifications and started helping friends. Realized coaching was what I was meant to do all along.
Opened Jade Bastion Chronicle Fitness in a small 2,000 sq ft space on Robson Street. Just me, some basic equipment, and a dream.
When the world shut down, we adapted. Virtual training, outdoor sessions, whatever it took to keep our community strong.
Doubled our space, added nutrition coaching, and brought on three more coaches. Still feels surreal sometimes.
Over 300 members strong and still growing. But we haven't lost sight of what matters - helping regular people discover their strength.
